Volunteering at HawaiiCon
HawaiiCon is a 100% fan-run, 100% volunteer organization. There are many ways to volunteer with HawaiiCon— from spending anywhere from a couple of hours to 16 or more hours of service , to serving as Staff or as a Committee Member. We need help with everything: from checking badges at the doors, to helping keiki create their own magical wands, to helping run the Oasis events in the evening. Whatever your skills or available time commitment, there is a place for you in the HawaiiCon Ohana!
Some details about volunteering:
Volunteers who serve from two to fifteen hours will receive a lanyard identifying them as part of our con ohana. Volunteers who serve sixteen or more hours will receive a HawaiiCon Volunteer lanyard, one free 4 Day Pass, and access to the Volunteer Suite (a rest stop with snacks and drinks).
Volunteers must be 18 years old at the time of the convention. Exceptions can be made for teen volunteer groups who work under the supervision of a chaperone.
Hours towards 16 hours of service can be earned throughout the year! The HawaiiCon organization is increasingly becoming involved in serving our Big Island community year round. Join in and earn hours towards a free 4 Day Pass!
You do not have to be a Big Island resident to serve as a volunteer. We welcome volunteers from neighbor islands and from around the world.
Volunteers will be provided training and are expected to adhere to HawaiiCon policies and our operations principles. All volunteers work under the supervision and consent of HawaiiCon’s Personnel Director and Volunteer Coordinator.
