Thursday

7:30am to 12:00pm: Tour: Pu'ukohola National Historic Site and Mo'okini Heiau Tour: We will be joined by Herb Jefferson, Jr., Jeff Parazzo, and Kevin Duhaney. Hawaiicon is honored to be able to introduce guests to two of the most important historical, and spiritually powerful places in the Hawaiian Island chain. We will begin with a visit to the Mo'okini Heiau, believed to the first heiau ever built by Hawaiians. Mo'okini was build in dedication to Ku, the god of war, and was the site of many human sacrifices. Due to this site's power, the mother of King Kamehameha traveled here for his birth. We'll then turn south for an interpreted tour of the Pu'ukohola Heiau, built by this same king in order to fulfill the prophecies that led to his domination of the Hawaiian Islands. Tour leave Thursday in the morning, 7:30 and returns around lunchtime. Please consider wearing closed-toed shoes and bring your own water for this light hike. All profits from this tour will be donated to the entities responsible for the care of these sites. Meet in the Hotel Lobby

9:00am to 10:00am: Walking Tour of Mauni Lani's Flora & Fauna: Take an indepth grounds tour of the Mauna Lani which serves as host to birds, flowering plants: and fish that flourish in Hawaii. (D. Akaka) Cultural Center

10:00am to 10:50am: Student Lightsaber Combat Workshop (13+): This workshop will give participants a chance to explore techniques of lightsaber combat and develop a choreographed fight sequence. Spinning and twirling techniques will also be explored. Wooden lightsaber trainers will be provided but participants are welcome to bring their own lightsabers. 7:00am to 12:00pm: Snorkel Tour on the Kohala Coast with Colin & Femi: We will be joined by Colin Ferguson, Femi Taylor and their families. Hawaiicon is pleased to partner with Kohala Divers to provide a morning snorkel trip aboard their brand-new, 46-foot vessel, Namaka! Turtles, fishes, dolphins, perhaps. The stunning blue of the Kona ocean, the barren vista of the Kohala volcano. Low key access, suitable for all skill levels. Tour leaves the Mauni Lani lobby at 7AM, returning at approximately lunch time. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks will be provided. This tour is $100. Guests should bring a towel, swimsuit, sunglasses, sunscreen, personal snorkel equipment if desired (if you do not have your own snorkel equipment it will be provided) and a camera/gopro. 7:00am to 11:00am: Morning Petroglyph Hike and Snorkel: Taking advantage of our Waikoloa location, Hawaiicon is pleased to offer a morning hike along the Puako petroglyph trail, followed by snacks and snorkeling. Transportation is provided. On the trail, participants should wear good walking shoes. The trail is not long, but it is not well-groomed. Guests should bring a towel, swimsuit, sunglasses, sunscreen, personal snorkel equipment if desired (if you do not have your own snorkel equipment it will be provided) and a camera/gopro. Guests may (should!) also choose to bring dry clothes to change into. Tour leaves the Mauni Lani lobby at 7AM, returning at approximately 11AM.
